The Disembarkation of Cleopatra at Tarsus, 1882. In 41 BC, Mark Antony, (83 BC-30 BC) summoned Cleopatra, Queen of Egypt, to the Cilician city of Tarsus to negotiate a political and military alliance, which later led to a personal union. Bbased on a painting by French painter Claude Lorrain, (Claude Gellée) (c1600-1682), 1642-1643.
