'The Ritz on the Site of the Hotels of Many Generations', c1935. Open-topped buses outside the Ritz Hotel on Piccadilly, central London. The hotel was built on the site of the Old White Horse Cellar, one of the best known coaching inns in England. It was designed by Charles Mewès and Arthur Davis, and opened by Swiss hotelier César Ritz in May 1906. From "Wonderful London, Volume 3", edited by Arthur St John Adcock.
