The White Horse at Westbury, Wiltshire, c1955. The Westbury White Horse is a hill figure cut out of the chalk on the escarpment of Salisbury Plain. The horse is 180 feet (55 metres) tall and 170 feet (52 metres) wide, and is believed to have been cut in 1778.
