'The Tiger Tavern on Tower Hill', c1935. Tavern at Tower Hill in London: the sign says 'This house was honoured by Queen Elizabeth'. Legend has it that the Tiger Tavern had the mummified remains of a cat said to have been stroked by the young Princess Elizabeth when she was held a prisoner in the nearby Tower of London. From "Wonderful London, Volume 1", edited by Arthur St John Adcock. [The Fleetway House, London, c1935]
