St. James, Westminster, 1820. 'Situated on the North of Jermyn Street, fronting St. James's Square, was built by Sir C. [ie Christopher] Wren, and consecrated as a place of worship in 1684, as a precinct to St. Martin's in the fields, but from the increase of the Inhabitants of this quarter it was form'd into a parish, the 1st of James II. The present Reverend Dean Andrews, in 1812, succeeded W.W. Parker D.D. as Rector'.
