'The Storm on the Sea of Galilee', 1633, (1967). Christ and his disciples are overtaken by a violent storm. The desperate struggles of the disciples are transformed into one powerful surge of movement, with the calm figure of Christ forming a strong contrast to the turbulence. For realistic detail, there is even a seasick disciple leaning over the side of the boat. 'The Storm on the Sea of Galilee', Rembrandt's only sea painting, was stolen in 1990 from the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum in Boston, USA. Several of the suspects met violent deaths, and consequently there are very few persons of interest left alive in the Gardner Heist investigation.
