Lambeth Palace - Great Hall, c1883. Lambeth Palace is the official London residence of the Archbishop of Canterbury. It is situated on the south bank of the River Thames. The site was chosen for its convenient proximity to the royal palace and government seat of Westminster, just across the Thames. View of the 17th-century Great Hall with lantern cupola. The original medieval great hall was destroyed by the Cromwellians in the late 1640s.
