Interior of Toledo Cathedral, between c1862 and c1864. The figures of the stained-glass windows are reproduced with great definition. In the centre of the painting, the magnificent, large-scale grilles executed by Maestro Domingo de Céspedes to enclose the choir also play an important role. They measure 46 feet wide by 17 feet high, and are made of iron, copper and brass. The artist was assisted by his son-in-law, Hernando Bravo, and they completed this masterpiece of Hispanic ironwork in 1547. Toledo's great school of wrought ironwork revolves around de Céspedes, a colossal figure within the field, who left his finest production in the Cathedral Primada.
