Samson destroying the Temple of Dagon, 1659. Samson had been captured and blinded by the Philistines after Delilah had shaved his hair. When his hair had grown back, Samson asked the Lord for superhuman strength to be able to tear down Dagon's temple. He hides here in the darkness of the loggia behind the two corner columns, which he bends and over which the bridge and façade will collapse in the next moment.
