Carved woman's head, Minster Church of St John, Beverley, East Riding of Yorkshire, c1955-c1980. Detail of a sculpture showing the bust of a woman wearing a wimple with crown over the top. A wimple is a cloth headdress worn by women, that cover the head and wrap around the head, uner the chin. The photographer's handlist suggests that this may be a depiction of Margaret of France, wife of King Edward I. The sculpture is situated on the south wall, in the second bay from the eastern end of the aisle.
