'The Rosemary Branch in 1800', (c1878). The Rosemary Branch tavern in Peckham, (now part of south London), dated back to at least the beginning of the 18th century. Its assembly room, used for public meetings and musical entertainment, become a Victorian Music Hall. The tavern also had a sports ground for cricket, horse-racing, pigeon-shooting and athletics.
