In 1458, Jaume Huguet was commissioned to build a new altarpiece for Saints Abdó and Senén's altar, also known as Saint Nin and Saint Non, the patron saints of the peasantry. Huguet was already one of the most prestigious painters of the time and with this altarpiece, achieved one of Catalonia's Gothic masterpieces.
