According to the "Photographic News", when Muybridge lectured at the British Institution in 1882, the Prince of Wales specifically asked to see Muybridge's images of boxing. Muybridge duly obliged and observed that though they were of less educative value they were 'generally found amusing.' Eadweard Muybridge (1830-1904) was a British photographer known for his pioneering work in photographic studies of motion, and early work in motion-picture projection.
