Roman aqueduct, Side, Anatolia, Turkey, 1999. Aqueduct, built in the second half of the 2nd century, and restored in the first half of the 3rd century, financed by Lollianos. The water came from the river Melas. The city of Side was founded in the 7th- 6th century BC. It was part of Greek, Ptolomaean and Seleucid empires. Side was incorporated into the Roman Empire, province of Lycia et Pamphylia. Time of greatest prosperity under the Empire in the 1st-3rd centuries AD.
