In Front of an Orthodox Church, 1899. The artist used a limited palette of colors and based its color scheme on the contrast of browns and blues, complemented by muted white. Equally simple is the composition of the painting, organized in such a way that the viewer's eyes are focused on the middle group of praying women. The wall surrounding the temple and the empty, yet very painterly rich wall on the right, organize the space, focusing the viewer's eyes on the figures of peasant women in dark clothes.
