Landscape with a Bridge (Monochromatic), 1648. Additional Info: One of the few extant landscape paintings of the Dutch artist Cornelis de Bie (1621/22-1664), created in 1648, represents a section of a river with a wooden bridge connecting its two steep banks. A wanderer with a dog can be seen on the bridge. A peasant with a cow and a girl with a herd of goats are standing among several slender trees on the right bank. A shepherd on a horse is leading cattle to a watering place on the left bank. The painting was rendered in a sketchy manner and with dominant tones of silver and blue.
