The procession of King Edward VI. from the Tower of London to Westminster, February 19, 1547, previous to his coronation, (1787). The long procession makes its way from the Tower, which is on the far left and surrounded by water, to Westminster Abbey. The procession is made up of dignitaries, soldiers and members of the court. Banners have been hung from the main building in the centre of the picture, in celebration. Officials line the procession path, and people make their way through the narrow streets to watch the event. Edward was crowned king in 1547 at the age of ten. From a coeval painting at Cowdry.
