'Strand Lane and the Entrance to the Roman Bath', c1935. The Old Watch House, also known as St Clement's Watch House, and 'Roman Bath' in Strand Lane near the River Thames in Westminster, London. Behind the railings is the site of a 17th-century cistern, erroneously thought to be a Roman bath, that fed the fountains at nearby Somerset House. The building was From "Wonderful London, Volume 3", edited by Arthur St John Adcock. [The Fleetway House, London, c1935]
