'The Buccaneer Room, Carlyle Club, Piccadilly', 1915. The Carlyle Club opened at 180 Piccadilly in May, 1914. It survived World War I and was still operating in the 1920s. The club was famed for it's luxurious Buccaneer smoking room (designed by Waring & Gillow) and it's room dedicated to the work and associated artifacts of Thomas Carlyle (1795–1881). The Piccadilly Shaving Company now operates from the club’s former chambers. From The Studio Volume 64. [London Offices of the Studio, London, 1915]
