The Sigh of the Moor, 1856. Depiction of the legendary moment at the mountain pass known as El Suspiro del Moro, where Boabdil (1459-1533 - Muhammad XI), the last Nasrid emir of Granada, looks back at the city with his mother Aixa and his entourage after surrendering the Alhambra to the Catholic Monarchs in 1492. Boabdil weeps and is famously rebuked by his mother for not defending his kingdom like a man.
