'The Royal Palace, Amsterdam', 1890. On the west side of Dam Square, the Royal Palace was was built as a city hall during the Dutch Golden Age by Jacob van Campen in the 17th century, later the royal palace of King Louis Napoleon and later of the Dutch Royal House.
