The painter Darío de Regoyos playing the guitar, 1885. The Spanish artist de Regoyos (1857-1913) is dressed as a student, seated on a chaise longue. He is playing the guitar and singing a Gypsy song. Regoyos wrote the lyrics of the song "Gitana" in Caló (the Romani language) with the other end of his brush on the wet paint of the background. Théo was very fond of this type of song, to which he was introduced by Regoyos in his early years of residence in Brussels.
