The Nun Scene in Act III. of "Robert le Diable" at Her Majesty's Theatre, 1862. London stage production. '...the scene in the third act of this celebrated opera...in which the nuns buried in the ruined cloisters of the old abbey, under the spell of the fiend Bertram, "revisit the glimpses of the moon", and come gliding in from every side, a ghastly band clad in the habiliments of the grave. This scene is represented by the painter, Mr. William Callcott, with great pictorial power, and its effect is in the highest degree unearthly and appalling'. From "Illustrated London News", 1862.
