St Ferdinand (Ferdinand III of Castile and Leon), 1886. Ferdinand (1199-1252) was King of Castile from 1217 and Leon from 1230. He spent much of his reign fighting the Moors, driving them out of all of Andalusia except Granada. Published in Butler's Lives of the Saints, DIV 4, by the Rev Alban Butler, London & Dublin, 1886.
