Silver casket, 1840s, (1881). Etching of a silver and enamel filigree casket probably made in Vienna between 1840 and 1850. It is decorated with a foliage pattern inspired by seventeenth century fashions in ornament, and is supported on four sphinx feet. From "The South Kensington Museum", a book of engraved illustrations, with descriptions, of the works of art in the collection of the Victoria & Albert Museum in London (formerly known as the South Kensington Museum). [Sampson Low, Marston, Searle and Rivington, London, 1881]
