Scenes from the Life and Passion of Christ, between 1370 and 1380. Carved elephant ivory diptych made in Paris. The two sheets are divided into three registers superimposed by trefoil arches. On the left: the Ascension, the arrest of Christ and the hanging of Judas, the Annunciation and the Nativity; on the right: Pentecost, Crucifixion and Resurrection, Adoration of the Magi. The production of the Passion of Christ workshop is characterized by the elegance of the characters and the silky flexibility of the drapery. The faces are quite stereotyped: a long straight nose and prominent cheekbones for the men and a pointed chin for the women.
