Sailors at prayers on board Lord Nelson's ship, after the Battle of the Nile, 1819. The priest conducts the service from a makeshift altar that has a union jack draped over it. The sailors stand in a semi circle listening. A wounded Nelson is also listening on the right. In 1798 Nelson defeated Bonaparte's naval forces in Aboukir Bay, which became known as the Battle of the Nile.
