Rowley's Mansion, Shrewsbury, Shropshire, c1955. Rowley's House and Rowley's Mansion are a pair of timber-framed houses built in the late 16th and early 17th century; these buildings now contain a museum. Rowley's House was built by Roger Rowley, a local wool merchant, while the mansion was built by his son and is seemingly the earliest brick building in Shrewsbury. The town of Shrewsbury became prosperous due to its control of the Welsh wool trade.
