Pulpit, Siena Cathedral, Italy, late 19th or early 20th century. The pulpit of the cathedral dates from 1265-1268. Elaborately carved from Carrara marble, it is regarded as the masterpiece of the Tuscan sculptor Nicola Pisano. It is decorated with scenes relating to Salvation and the Last Judgment.
