'Parnell', (1679-1718), 1830. Thomas Parnell (1679-1718) Anglo-Irish poet and clergyman, educated at Trinity College, Dublin. Friend of Alexander Pope and Jonathan Swift, member of the Scriblerus Club, he contributed to The Spectator and aided Pope in translation of The Iliad.
