On the Terrace, Barra Castle, Aberdeenshire, 1854. Barra Castle lies on the outskirts of Oldmeldrum, to the north west of Aberdeen. It is more of a manor house than a castle, since there are no fortified turrets. Instead there are three round towers with conical roofs, one of which is evident in Cassie's depiction of the house.
