Napoleon on board the 'Bellerophon', July 1815, (1921). 'Napoleon a la coupée du 'Bellérophon''. Portrait of Emperor Napoleon I (1769-1821) after his surrender to Captain Frederick Maitland of the 'Bellerophon' which brought him to England. He was detained on board in Plymouth Sound while his fate was decided. He usually appeared at about 6.00 pm for the benefit of the boatloadss of sightseers, which enabled Charles Lock Eastlake to make rapid sketches from life.
