Louis of France, the Grand Dauphin, 1668. Portrait aged about seven. The eldest son of Louis XIV and the Spanish Infanta Maria Theresa of Austria, Louis was born in 1661 and received the title of Dauphin as heir to the French throne. From his marriage to Maria Anna Victoria of Bavaria, the future King Philip V of Spain was born in 1683, who inherited the so-called Dauphin's Treasure, now housed in the Prado Museum. Louis died in 1711.
