Interior of Newburn Church, where George Stephenson was married, 1881. 'On Nov. 28, 1802, George Stephenson married Fanny Henderson at Newburn church'. Illustration published in a special supplement to celebrate the centenary of Stephenson's birth. George Stephenson (1781-1848) was a British civil engineer and mechanical engineer, known as the "Father of Railways". The Norman church of St Michael and All Angels, near Newcastle upon Tyne, is a listed building. From "Illustrated London News", 1881.
