Galileo, Goethe and La Place, c1870. Sculptures of Italian astronomer Galileo Galilei, German author Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, and French polymath Pierre-Simon Laplace, by Edward William Wyon. There are 22 sculptures on the façade of 6 Burlington Gardens, an Italianate Grade II*-listed building in Mayfair, designed by Sir James Pennethorne between 1867 and 1870 as headquarters for the University of London. It is currently used by the Royal Academy of Arts.
