Franco-Prussian War (1870-1871): Battle of Wörth, 6 August 1870, 1870. Prussian troops commanded by Crown Prince Frederick William, and led by General Leonhard Graf von Blumenthal (1810-1900), defeated the French under Marshal MacMahon (1808-1893) near the village of Woerth in Alsace. Capture of a French mitrailleuse by a company of the 2nd Hessian Infantry Regiment, Nr. 82, XI Prussian Army Corps. Illustration based on a sketch by a wounded officer.
