Dear Guest from Afar, 1888. A servant pours wine into a goblet for a young man wearing embroidered silk and velvet clothes as the host looks on. The interior is richly decorated, with an icon in one corner, a ewer and towel on a stand for washing hands, Persian carpets, and a lace tablecloth. On the left is a pile of expensive objects including a scimitar, a golden jar, and pearls.
