Cast of low relief depicting figure of Victory and acanthus decoration. The cast is of a portion of a terracotta relief which probably served as an antefix (block which terminates and conceals the covering tiles of a tiled roof). The cast does not show the peaked upper edge of the original object which is now in the British Museum. The figural decoration, a victory amid acanthus scrolls, is symmetric and deliberately styled to look archaic. This is typical of this genre of terracotta panels of early imperial date. (Roman imperial period: c27 BCE-late 4th century AD/CE).
