Building colonies on the African coast, 1 January 1683, (1936). 'Errichtung Von Kolonien An Der Afrikanischen Küste, 1 Januar 1683'. Prussian explorer Major Otto Friedrich von der Groeben (1657-1728) established the German settlement of Fort Groß Friedrichsburg on the West African coast at what is now Princes Town or Pokesu in Ghana.
