Arch of Drusus - Rome, 1850. '...the Arch of Drusus, near the Gate of St. Sebastian, the last of all the triumphal arches which spanned the noble thoroughfare which ran through the ancient city from the Flaminian Way (now the Corso) southward to the Appian Way. The arch was erected in memory of Drusus, the father of the Emperor Claudius, during the reign ot the latter, about A.D. 42 or 43...' [with the gate of St. Sebastian in the background].
