Duel between two knights using handled swords, Middle ages, 15th century (1877). Judgement of God. Trials by means of duels and combats to elucidate who was the possessor of the truth or to be right. Each side chose a champion to act on their behalf. The winner was proclaimed the possessor of the truth.
