Fulvia and Mark Antony, or Fulvia's Revenge, 1888. Alternative title: Fulvia and Marco Antonio. Fulvia (77 BCE-40 BCE) avenged the death of her first husband, Publius Clodius Pulcher (92 BCE-52 BCE), with the assassination of Cicero. Pulcher had had numerous clashes with the orator. Upon being presented with Cicero's head, Fulvia personally pierced his tongue with her hairpins and ordered it to be displayed alongside his hands in the Forum. Fulvia was married three times: to Publius Clodius Pulcher, to Gaius Scribonius Curio (90 BCE-49 BCE), and to Mark Antony (c 83 BCE-30 BCE). She was known for her political ambition and the influence she wielded over her husbands.
