Franco-Prussian War (1870-1871): Destruction of the Rhine Bridge on the side of the French border, France, 1870. It connected the cities of Kehl and Strasbourg, crossing both the Rhine and the border between Germany and France. When war broke out, the turntable at the eastern end of the bridge (Kehl) was dynamited.
