Red Town Hall (Rotes Rathaus) from Spandauer Strasse, Berlin, Germany, 2025. Building constructed between 1861 and 1869 based on a design by architect Hermann Friedrich Waesemann, (1813-1879) in the style of the Northern Italy High Renaissance. It replaced several medieval buildings that occupied the entire block. It houses the offices of the mayor and the government of the federal state of Berlin, (Senate of Berlin). The building was heavily damaged by Allied bombing in World War II and rebuilt to the original plans between 1951 and 1956. As it was located in the Soviet-occupied sector of the city, it served as the town hall of East Berlin. After German reunification, the Berlin administration was moved to this building in 1991.
