Taking of the bridge of Luchana, Third Siege of Bilbao, (5 Nov to 25 Dec 1836), First Carlist War, (1833-1840), Dec 1836, (1845). On 22 December 1836, General Espartero began operations in the vicinity of the bridge of Luchana, which was under Carlist control. On the afternoon of 24 December, with the help of two British ships, General Oráa attempted to take the bridge, although he was refused by the Carlists.
