Festival of Britain, Battersea, London, c1951. A chimney of the Battersea Power Station at left, with the Battersea gasometer, now demolished, in the centre. In 1951 the northern parts of Battersea Park in South London were transformed into the Festival Pleasure Gardens as part of the Festival of Britain celebrations. There was a new water-garden, fountains, and a boating lake.
