Parish Church of St Mary, Wedmore, Somerset, c1955. St Mary's is mostly a 15th century rebuilding of a much earlier church - some 12th- and 13th-century work survives. The tower was built around 1400. There may have been a Saxon church here: it is known that Wedmore was part of an estate belonging to the Saxon kings of Wessex, and King Alfred had a house nearby.
