The Indian Frontier Rising: ground at the head of the Mastura Valley, 1898. 'Showing Attack Made on Foraging Party under Command of Major Smith-Dorrien, Derbyshire Regiment, on November 13, 1897. Last position to which enemy followed. Nullah where Capt. Bowman was wounded. The Gurkhas retired down this slope. Heights held by Gurkhas. Village from which much forage was obtained. Sind Infantry made a long stand here. Villages from which enemy swarmed trying to get round the right flank. Tower held by Gurkhas to cover right flank. Open river-bed with precipitous banks.
