Study for "The Visit of Queen Victoria to the International Exhibition, Glasgow", 1888. Study for the commemoration picture of Queen Victoria’s state visit to Glasgow on 22 August 1888. During the Queen’s visit, she opened Glasgow’s City Chambers and paid a visit to the International Exhibition which took place in Kelvingrove Park. The exhibition attracted over five million visitors and led to the building of Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum. The Queen continued on to Balmoral after her visit to Glasgow.
