Meeting of the Three Rivers, Baths of Canquenes, Chile, 1890. 'Residents at Santiago, the capital city of Chile, which was visited last year by our Special Artist, Mr. Melton Prior, are fond of resorting for health and repose to the Baths of Canquenes, within a short railway journey southward, where springs of medicinal waters have caused a fashionable spa to be erected. A gorge of the lower Andes, which is entered above this place by an easy carriage-drive, exhibits fine romantic scenery, three mountain streams here forming a junction, with grand views of the surrounding highlands. The bath and hotel buildings of Canquenes, situated on a rock over the rushing river, which is crossed by a picturesque suspension-bridge, were shown in an Illustration that we published three months ago'.
